Product Description

Water Gate Flood Dam sizes

Water Gate flood barriers have been specially designed to provide unfailing protection against the flooding problems faced by many cities and towns located mainly in flood-prone areas. This innovative and unprecedented intervention equipment combines simplicity, robustness and reliability.

Used around the world, Water-Gate barriers are the perfect alternative to sandbags because they can replace thousands of sandbags in an instant. In addition, they remain stable, regardless of the length and direction of the flow, or the slope of the terrain. Water Gate barriers can be put in place while the flood is already underway.

Easily Deployed: Can be simply unrolled in minutes. No attachments or on-site construction is needed for the majority of situations. The flood water itself provides additional stability (and there is the option to attach heavy-duty pegs for further security if needed).

Self-Inflating: Inflated simply by the weight of the flood-water itself - no external power source or pre-inflation is required.

Extendable / Customisable: Multiple sections can be joined simply with the integral Velcro fasteners, to create lengths of several hundred metres or to provide an enclosed area (eg 4 corners and 6 x 10m sections will provide a 200m2 enclosure)

General advice:

Be sure to select the correct barrier size and be equipped with pumps and other necessary tools to prevent infiltration and manage rainwater.

Avoid placing Velcro seals around the corners.

All barrier models are compatible, with the exception of barriers with a height of 6 ″, which can only be attached to barriers of the same model.

Pay special attention to obstacles when measuring the space you need to install the barrier.

Sandbags are necessary in certain places of the flap at the front of the barrier to minimize infiltration.

THE 4 GOLDEN RULES FOR A SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION

1- Never try to contain a leak behind the barrier

If there are leaks, prevent water from entering the front of the barrier. In most cases, this problem is caused by infiltration upstream. If you try to control a leak behind the barrier, it could create a small pool below it and make it unstable.

2- Pump the water behind the barrier

It is important to leave enough space between the building and the back of the barrier to accommodate a water pump. Water that infiltrates under the barrier should not be allowed to accumulate behind it. One of the next chapters deals with the importance of water pumps.

3- Place a regular weight on the front flap

Do not attach the barrier to the ground. The water that enters the barrier creates a weight that holds the water that flows. It is important to place weights on the front to reduce infiltration. The WL model, created for flood control, is designed with integrated ballast allowing rapid deployment. The weights reduce infiltration under the barrier and allow it to stay firmly in place on the ground.

4- Prevent water from accumulating under the barrier

Remove all objects that could cause infiltration under the front of the barrier. It is designed to stay in place on all surfaces, be it asphalt, gravel, grass or concrete. However, if there is too much water under the front, the barrier will not adhere as well and could slip. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the soil is free of all objects that could cause water to accumulate under the barrier.
